Suffragan Bishop Dale I. Shaw, Sr. & Lady Susan Shaw

Suffragan Bishop Dale I Shaw Sr., a  native of New Haven, Connecticut relocated to New Britain in 1982. He is the fourth son of the late Deacon Douglas and Elizabeth C. Shaw. He was baptized in the name of Jesus at the age of twelve and received the gift of the Holy Ghost at the age of sixteen in April 1978 at Beulah Heights First Pentecostal Church in New Haven, Connecticut during a revival conducted by Bishop Richard Young of Fort Worth, Texas. At that time, the pastor was the late Bishop George H. Brooks.
         
Suffragan Bishop Shaw retired from the State of Connecticut, Department of Economic and Community Development in July of 2012, after 27 1/2 years of service. He attended Greater Hartford Community College to complete course work in Governmental Accounting.
     
He is an ordained Elder of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc. and is continuing his pastoral counseling studies with Light University, Forest VA. Suffragan Bishop Shaw was installed Pastor of the Bethesda Apostolic Church, Inc. in June of 2010. In the latter part of 1980 Suffragan Bishop Shaw started to attend the Bethesda Apostolic Church, during the pastorate of the late Dr. John P. Shaw. After transitioning of the late Dr. John P. Shaw, he was mentored and served in ministry under the late Suffragan Bishop John H. Thomas. Suffragan Bishop Shaw served in many capacities at Bethesda Apostolic Church. Since he has assumed the pastorate, the church has experienced much growth and continues to seek ways to serve the people of God and the greater New Britain community.
         
Suffragan Bishop Shaw served as 1st and 2nd Vice Chairman of the Connecticut District Council of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, and former Director of the Connecticut District Council Young People’s Union. In the past years he has served as the Chairman of the Men’s Ministry Department and Chairman of the Young People’s Union of the Connecticut District Council. Suffragan Bishop Shaw was elevated to the position of District Elder in June of 2013 and in June of 2015 he was elevated to the position of Suffragan Bishop to the Connecticut District Council, Episcopal District #20 of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc. All of these appointments were confirmed by the leadership of our former Diocesan, Bishop Theodore L. Brooks, Sr. Suffragan Bishop Shaw is currently a member of the New Britain Branch NAACP. In 2019 he served as the Co-Chair of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Corridors Initiative. In recent years, he was appointed by former Mayor Timothy O’Brien to serve the City of New Britain as Commissioner for the Economic Development Commission, and Vice Chairman and then Chairman of the Black Ministerial Alliance of New Britain. In October of 2016 and 2018, Suffragan Bishop Shaw was selected as one of the 25 Most Influential Blacks in the City of New Britain,  as recognized by the New Britain Branch NAACP Chapter #2006. In February 2020 Suffragan Bishop Shaw was one of the 29 honorees recognized during the Black History Month Celebration (A-Team Presents, “Honoring Impactful STORIES”)

Suffragan Bishop Shaw resides in Newington, CT with his lovely wife,  Lady Susan,  and daughter, Bria. Their eldest son, Dale I. Shaw, II,  his wife Bree’Ana, daughter Zhuri Alyse and brother-in-law,  Senia (CJ) Johnson II resides in East Hartford, CT.
